Level Up Automation – Smart Homes & Intelligent Buildings

It wasn’t that long ago that the concept of home automation felt futuristic, science fiction-like. Now, with the expertise of technology design professionals, like Jen Mallett, CEO and president of Level Up Automation, the future is at your fingertips. Literally. Mallett and her team are passionate about home technology and eager to demonstrate to industry professionals and homeowners alike

“How it can be incorporated seamlessly into the home, in a way that is simple, elegant and works for the family.”

“We are technology architects for your new home.” shares Mallett. “When well thought out and designed right, technology works for you in the background, it’s not fussy. It delivers sophisticated and elegant experiences, without effort.“

After a fifteen-year career managing audio/video integration contractors for Bose, a global audio company, Mallett decided to strike out on her own in 2016 and founded Level Up Automation operating in Greater Boston, Phoenix, Baton Rouge and major Florida markets. Envisioning a design-forward company, both in function and aesthetic, Mallett set out to transform home technology perception. Before she’d get to that though, she’d need to clear the air. “I quickly learned that there was a great deal of confusion about automation technology”, explains Mallett. Even savvy technophiles were overloaded by the 5-6 phone apps they’d bounce between to dim a light or extinguish the fireplace. Technology is meant to improve upon quality of life, not weigh it down.

“One of the things I appreciate about the Corrigans is they are design forward with very high standards, we make a great match in that respect. They understand that the home of today needs a strong foundation of Wi-Fi, security, audio and other systems – and that really having all of those work together and not independently is the new standard of the modern home.   It takes some extra time and not all build professionals want another trade involved with the time and budget constraints on a new build – but the planning and installation of smart home technology is worth it.  Pat and Karina took the time to visit our showroom, experience technology demonstrations and have a wide open dialogue about how their new home technology can be designed to support their enjoyment and safety while also protecting their family’s privacy.  With that in mind, the team at Level Up Automation designed their technology aesthetics within their specific design preferences, performance preferences and in a way that provides simple automations.

Understanding the needs and wants of the homeowner is critical, and how they might most benefit from integrated technology. Part of that process, of course, involves helping them envision what is possible. Just as the pre-construction phase is critical to the success of any build, so is the case with home technology integration. Being involved in the early design phase with trade partners and the clientis a critical step in achieving maximum functionality with minimum disruption to the aesthetic.

There is so much potential in this field that many don’t realize exists. The public has come to expect automated lights and thermostats, and maybe automated window shades. Music and audio programming, network, security, and energy systems also should be integrated. “We can tell how much power your dishwasher is drawing on a given Tuesday”, should you want that information, and “advise and program it to only run during off-peak hours. We specialize in integrating complex information and funneling it a single source that can be controlled either through sophisticated touch panels, smart phone devices, or voice control”, depending on customer preference and capability. “We make the complex simple”, explains Mallett.

Scheduling a Level Up design consultation is easy, and complimentary. Each project has a dedicated team member to understand technology needs and preferences.  Our team then designs a strategy to streamline automations focusing on the client and how they dream of experiencing their new home. “One of our very favorite undertakings is to create a scene or ambience for clients, by cueing multiple technologies at once”, much like a maestro conducting a symphony orchestra.

Having established itself so early in this emerging field, Level Up is frequently tapped to speak at trade shows or invited to consult on other industry projects.  For instance, Mallett has been spearheading electric vehicle charging and smart home energy automation systems for the last twelve months. “We can install and integrate charging stations, even to allow for remote charging at any scheduled interval.

Everything we scope and install we carry in our greater Boston showroom for demonstration purposes”, notes Mallett. Technology has long delighted and confounded its user. However, under the trained and expert guidance of the Level Up Automation team, home automation functionality is being made both accessible and experience focused.

We want our clients to love their smart home automation system on day one and for every day thereafter – we check in. We don’t lose touch.   Technology is a relationship and we see our clients and business partners as lifetime partners in this every evolving industry.
